Hi all!,
Another car show has come and gone. My feet are certainly glad that it’s over, but my heart wishes it could go on.
It was a wonderful show. We had more entries than we have ever had and the crowd was larger than I’ve ever seen it. I’ve been doing this since it began and I am always amazed how it’s grown! It’s a far cry from the cement slab displaying 45 cars and a horribly green car show committee hoping that we raised enough money to gift just one wish.
I am so impressed, as always, by the generosity of the people who gave of themselves. From the teens who worked the food lines, the people that stood all day to direct the cars and crowd, the guys standing over the hot barbecue grill, the ones who… well, as you can see there were so many that I simply can’t list everyone. But I can say that each and every one of them are heroes. With our current economy the way it is, I don’t see how anyone has the extra to make what we do happen – but they did. All just to see a smile on a child’s face.
I had a chance to sit and visit with two of the children that we are sponsoring. One was Andrew – whose spirit is barely contained in the small body of a young boy. He was quick with a smile and you just know that nothing will hold him down. He really thought Burgie’s hot dogs were the best! I met him, his sister, and his mother while they were eating their lunch. I took a few pictures of him, but they really do not do him justice.
The other was Macayla. She was a bit quiet at first, but when I mentioned that she needed a new pair of jeans ’cause the knees were out, she was quick to correct me, very politely I might add. She pointed out that she had bought them that way – they were in style! She may look tiny, but there is a fire in her that I hope is never extinguished! I felt truly honored to get the chance to meet and talk with them. They are both very special indeed!
If you are reading this, then you are probably one of those that helped to make this happen, either by gift, sweat, or attendance. Saying thank you is never enough but… Thank You.

Hi all – I just found out that the fairgrounds is not listing our event on their website. We dropped the ball there somehow. Thanks Joy for letting me know.
The event is still scheduled for Saturday, March 10th. That’s right – THIS Saturday! The gate on P St will be opened at 7 am for entries. Hope to see you all there!

The Stockdale Moose Lodge #2178 is pleased to bring to the community of Bakersfield the 9th Annual “Cruisin’ For a Wish” Classic Car, Motorcycle, & Lawnmower show on March 10, 2012 at the Kern County Fair Grounds. This show is put on annually to provide monies for the wishes of children here locally in Kern County.
Because of the generosity and support from merchants like yourselves, entrants in the show, and vendors at the show, we have been able to raise the money and sponsor wishes for many Kern County children.
1st year: We raised $4,800.00 and sponsored one child
2nd year: We raised $10,300.00 and sponsored two children
3rd year: We raised $18,000.00 and sponsored four children
4th year: We raised $20,000.00 and sponsored six children
5th year: We raised $26,600.00 and sponsored eight children
6th year: We raised $27,752.00 and sponsored eight children
7th year: We raised $25,184.00 and sponsored eight children
8th year: We raised $22,500.00 and sponsored six children
We are again asking for your support of this worthy cause for our children here in Kern County.
$65.00 to sponsor a vehicle class, which includes three plaques with the sponsor’s name.
$125.00 to have your name imprinted on over 400 show t-shirts.
$75.00 to rent a 10×10 space for your vendor booth.
$50.00 to display your company banner.
Donations of prizes and gifts are also needed for the raffle that is held the day of the show.
Admission to the show is free to the public. The day will be filled with beautiful classic cars, motorcycles, and lawnmowers. We will have food vendors, Budweiser, and the highlight will be a New York steak dinner. Each dinner will be available for $12.00 ea. RV camping is available at $30.00 per night (limited to first 40 vehicles). There is no admission, but the fairgrounds will be charging a parking fee to the public.
